Yankees on YES viewership grew 7%, live streaming up by 156%

Oct. 5, 2021 – The 2021 New York Yankees generated impressive audiences for the YES Network, outperforming the Primetime schedules of all broadcast and cable networks in the New York DMA. Furthermore, overall average viewership for the Yankees on the YES Network grew 7% from 2019, the last full MLB season, while live streaming consumption of Yankees games on the YES App grew 156%.

YES’ telecast Sunday of the Yankees’ Wild Card-clinching game against the Rays averaged 449,000 total viewers, the network’s third-most-viewed game of the season despite going up against both the New York Jets and Giants telecasts. Sunday’s YES telecast peaked at 858,000 total viewers between 6:00 and 6:15 p.m. ET. The YES App had a record day Sunday when 85,461 unique streamers tuned in to the live stream of the game, making it the most-streamed YES game ever.

YES’ Primetime Yankees games this season averaged 306,000 total viewers, outperforming the Primetime schedules of all broadcast and cable networks in the New York DMA during the 2021 MLB season.

Overall viewership of YES’ Yankees games this season was up by 7% compared to 2019 (290,000 vs. 271,000).

Yankees on YES viewership in various demos was also up this season, including:

Persons 18-34 was up 57%

Females 18+ was up 28%

Persons 18-49 was up 21%

Persons 25-54 was up 5%

YES’ Rays-Yankees game Sunday averaged 449,000 total viewers, the network’s third-most-viewed game of the season despite going up against both the New York Jets and Giants telecasts.

That Rays-Yankees telecast peaked at 858,000 total viewers between 6:00 and 6:15 pm ET.

Unique streamers per game on the YES App increased by 156% from the 2019 season.

The YES App’s live stream of Sunday’s game registered a record 85,461 unique streamers, the most-streamed YES game ever.
